Which phones read Mibio, and where to tap
Updated
Most smartphones from the last few years open your profile with a tap, without an app. Phones that can't read NFC can always scan the QR code instead.
iPhone
iPhone XS, iPhone XR and every newer iPhone read Mibio on their own. The screen has to be on.
- Hold the product flat against the top of the back of the iPhone, near the camera.
- Keep it there for a second or two, until a notification appears at the top of the screen.
- Tap the notification. Your profile opens in Safari.
iPhone 7, iPhone 8 and iPhone X read NFC only from the NFC Tag Reader button in Control Center. Older iPhones can't read NFC: scan the QR code instead.
Android
Most Android phones have NFC. It has to be switched on (see Turn on NFC on an Android phone), and the screen has to be on and unlocked.
- Hold the product flat against the middle of the back of the phone. On some phones the reader sits higher, near the camera.
- If nothing happens, slowly move the product around the back. The phone usually vibrates or beeps when it finds it.
- Your profile opens in the browser.
Tips for every phone
- Hold still for a second or two. A quick swipe often isn't enough.
- Thick or metal cases, magnetic holders and cards in a phone wallet can block the signal. Take them off the back.
- Tap a metal card with its back, the plastic side: see Tapping a Mibio metal card.
- Tablets and computers usually can't read NFC. Use the QR code or your link.
